Remembrance Day

On Remembrance Day, children and staff at Joseph Turner Primary wore their poppies with pride! We had an assembly to explain the importance of remembering those who lost their lives and to encourage the idea of hope for our future. We sang war time songs, heard poetry and Jack (Year 6) played ‘The Last Post’ on his cornet.
The theme was carried on into the classrooms where children learnt about why we wear poppies and then made their own. These were then displayed around the school.

Remembrance.
Families pray for Soldiers each day.
The 11th November is Remembrance Day.
Helmets and boots are what they wear,
To no-man’s land they must be aware.
The petals are red, the centre is black.
Families want their loved ones back,
They fought so bravely,
There they lie.
In our hearts they will never die.
