Wk1- 07.9.26 Spot Goes to School
Our Nursery children have had a wonderful first week settling into school. We have enjoyed sharing the story Spot Goes to School, which helped us talk about starting nursery and trying new experiences. The children have been busy getting to know each other, exploring their new learning environment, and building positive relationships with adults. We are so proud of how confidently they have started their nursery journey and look forward to many more exciting adventures together.
Wk2- 14.9.26 The Colour Monster
This week the children are really starting to grasp the new routines of number and the timetable for their session. Our linked text has been The Colour Monster which the children have really enjoyed. The text teaches children all about emotions and how they may be feeling in different situations. We have matched emotions to peoples face and discussed and they may be feeling and why. We got very creative making colour monsters using toilet rolls along with collage using tissue paper. The children really engaged in learning about the colour red and sorting items that were red and not red.
Wk3-21.9.26 What Friends do Best
Our focus text this week has been What Best Friends do. We have been learning about what makes a good friend and how we can show friendly qualities. We have been exploring space through our space tuft tray and making rockets using lots of different materials. Some of the children used glitter in trays along with feather to mark make in the glitter.
Wk4- 28.9.26- 5 minutes Peace
During our learning about families, the children enjoyed looking at family photographs and talking about the special people in their lives. They shared who is in their family and discussed the things they enjoy doing together. The children drew family portraits, explored printing with paints to create family pictures, and engaged in imaginative play by washing babies and using the dolls' house to act out family experiences. These activities helped children develop their communication skills, creativity, and understanding of family relationships and the different people who care for us.
Wk 5- 5.10.26- Owl Babies
While reading Owl Babies, the children enjoyed talking about the story, exploring the characters’ feelings, and discussing how the baby owls felt when they could not find their mummy. They developed their fine motor skills through cutting and sticking activities and created owl collages using a variety of materials, including feathers and tissue paper. In maths, the children have been learning about matching, identifying objects that are the same and making pairs through practical games and activities.
