It was lovely to have the children back in school this week after a week off. They were all fresh and ready to have lots of fun. This week we have been learning all about Vets through our linked text Mog and the Vet. We have been learning all about what vets do and their role. Children had a go at been a vet by dressing up and treating a variety of animals, along with taking pets to the vets in their pet carrier.
Wk3 10.3.25 Commotion in the Ocean
This week children have been learning all about sea animals. Our linked text was Commotion in the Oceans which tells you all about each sea creature. Children really listened well and were able to recall facts about different animals. For art children creating an understanding of the water scene by cutting and sticking pictures into the ocean. They had lots of fun counting to 6 in maths and matching the right amount of fish to a number. During water play the children played in blue water with lots of sea animals. Children were using nets to try and catch the different animals. Our highlight of her week was definitely the animal lady who visited us.
Wk4 17.3.25 Rumble in the Jungle
To continue with our ‘Amazing Animals’ topic this week we have learnt all about Jungle animals through our linked text Rumble in the Jungle. Again this book teaches children all about animals that live in the jungle through a story. Children were already familiar with which animals we may spot in a jungle. We have made a variety of jungle animals using junk models. Some animals the children made were brilliant such as giraffes with long necks. We have explored a jungle themed tuft tray where the children have enjoyed small world play with the animals. In maths this week we have been learning about tall and short where the children were sorting animals into taller or shorter than humans. Outside the children used the stilts to act out been large jungle animals which was great for their balance.
