They also explored the butterfly life cycle, examined jungles and green areas on world maps, and drew detailed family portraits. Creative projects included designing snake patterns and building jungle habitats for animals. Additionally, we practised sorting using hoops and jungle animals, and developed fine motor skills through activities involving tweezers, buttons, and bowls, making for a fun and educational week.

MC Grammar Visits Our School!
On Wednesday 1st October, we had the exciting opportunity to welcome MC Grammar to our school! The day was filled with energy and enthusiasm as children and staff joined in singing along to his catchy story songs, dancing, and enjoying every moment of his performance. The highlight for many was the chance to take part in a special meet and greet, making it a truly unforgettable experience for all!

Week beginning 13th October - Room on the Broom

This week in Year 1, we’ve been swept up in the magical tale of Room on the Broom during our English lessons. The children had great fun designing and building their own broomsticks for the witch, sparking lots of creativity and teamwork. Our classroom transformed into the witch’s kitchen, where we role-played spooky scenes and used our fine motor skills to add creepy ingredients to the bubbling cauldron. In Art, we explored painting with mud, experimenting with natural textures to create some wonderfully messy masterpieces! In Science, we went on a nature walk to look for signs of animals that share our environment. We spotted spider webs, animal tracks, and feathers from birds, which led to some fantastic discussions. In Maths, we’ve been comparing amounts and numbers. The children especially enjoyed our teddy bears’ picnic, where they used cubes to build towers that were more than, less than, or the same as the three bears. It’s been a week full of imagination, discovery, and hands-on learning!
