Autumn 1

A Fantastic First Week Back at School!

Our children have settled in splendidly during the first week! They've been busy crafting class rules that reflect our shared values, exploring the essence of British values, and embracing the power of a growth mindset.

We've engaged in some fantastic team-building games, allowing the children to get to know one another better while having lots of fun! Together, we've recapped our expectations and learnt how to present our work neatly, fostering both creativity and accountability.

It’s been a week full of laughter, learning, and new friendships. Here’s to an exciting year ahead filled with curiosity and growth! Let’s continue to support one another in our learning journeys!

Year 4 Election Day!

Today was an exciting day at Joseph Turner Primary School as our Year 4 students took part in a fantastic election to nominate their new pupil governors!  The candidates worked tirelessly to craft their amazing applications, showcasing their creativity and leadership skills. They showed great bravery by standing before their classmates to deliver speeches filled with passion and ideas on how to make our school even better! Now, the moment of anticipation is here as everyone eagerly awaits to find out who will be elected. Good luck to all our incredible candidates – you’ve done yourself proud! Stay tuned for the results, and let’s celebrate our future leaders!

Year 4 Sports Skills in Action!

Today, our fantastic Year 4 pupils started the day with a fun-filled PE lesson! They practised their passing and dribbling skills, showcasing their teamwork and determination. It’s amazing to see their confidence grow with each session! Keep up the great work, everyone!

Year 4’s Cool Chemistry Experiment!

This week in Year 4, our budding scientists dived into the fascinating world of states of matter! We explored the properties of solids, liquids, and gases through an exciting hands-on experiment. Children measured how long it takes for ice to transform into water and discovered how different environments can impact the melting speed! They learned that science is not just about textbook theories; it’s about observation, inquiry, and having fun!

Exploring Rights, Responsibilities, and Democracy in Our Classroom!

This week, our children have been diving into the essential themes of rights and responsibilities, focusing on Articles 12 and 28 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. In collaborative groups, they explored images reflecting these crucial topics, fostering discussions on fairness, equality, and what it means to have a voice in our democracy. Together, they participated in a lively debate, weighing the pros and cons of different life scenarios. Our students passionately identified changes needed to ensure every child enjoys a better life.

Roman Pottery in Art Class!

Today, our brilliant students delved into the fascinating world of Roman pottery! They learned how the Romans crafted various pots for different purposes, from cooking to storing precious goods. Guided by their creativity, the children got their hands dirty as they created their very own pottery masterpieces using a range of exciting techniques. We are so proud of their imagination and hard work! Look at their stunning creations!

Year 4’s Science Experiment: Heating Up the Fun!

This week, our inquisitive Year 4 students took on an exciting challenge from Professor Sally Scientifico! They embarked on a fascinating science experiment to observe the heating and cooling processes. The question posed was intriguing: Do all materials melt the same amount when heated for the same length of time? Our budding scientists made their predictions and then rolled up their sleeves to conduct the experiment! After careful observation and recording, they summarised their findings, showcasing their scientific reasoning skills. We are so proud of their enthusiasm and commitment to learning! Keep shining, Year 4!

Year 4's Unforgettable Day with MC Grammar!

What an incredible day Year 4 had! We were thrilled to host the world-famous MC Grammar, who brought his electrifying energy right onto our school stage!  From spellbinding rap battles to epic dance-offs, the children and teachers had an absolute blast! The highlight of the day? A jaw-dropping performance by MC Grammar himself!  Not only did our talented kids shine alongside him, but they also received signed autographs to remember this special event forever! A massive thank you to MC Grammar for inspiring our students and making learning so much fun!
