WB: 3rd March 2025
Children have had a fantastic week celebrating world book day! We took part in meeting the author Michelle Robinson who wrote "When fishfinger wrote" on zoom and had lots of questions asked, we even got to learn how to draw the characters from the story.
We joined in with the live reading quiz "Footy and Wooty" where we answered lots of questions about stories.
Throughout the day we took part in different activities such as designing a book cover for our favourite story, created our own stick man, designed Elmer, made a collage of the Rainbow Fish and shared lots of stories in class and our school library.

Year 1 enjoyed navigating their way around Dudley Zoo using the maps. We discussed how each number represents an enclosure. We found the number we were at and looked at which direction we would need to go in to get to the next number for the next animal enclosure. We discussed what symbols meant and found the symbols for parking and toilets. The children enjoyed relating their surroundings to the maps. The children enjoyed reading the facts about different animals and spotting their favourite ones. They enjoyed some time on the park and walking around the castle.

English
We have been very excited to receive a letter from the guards at Buckingham palace. In our sentence stacking lessons we learnt the skills of writing a letter to reply to them. This week, we are using our new knowledge to write letters to the King which we will send off and hopefully get a response to.
Computing
In Computing, we have been creating an e-book about Year 1. We used the camera to add pictures of our favourite animals from our zoo trip last year. We then added text and sound to explain the pictures to the reader.
