Elmer the elephant
Ask the children about Elmer and how he is different from other elephants.
(he is a patchwork elephant with lots of different coloured squares on his body).
Ask the children why Elmer wasn't happy.
(because he didn't like to be different from his friends that are a normal elephant grey colour).
Explain to the children that it is ok to be different.
Talk again, about how they are different from their friends?
See if the children can colour different patterns onto an outline of Elmer.
