What we did:
W.C. 06.01.25: Year 6 settled back into Year 6 and we began our topic “Welcome to the Jungle”. We also started too read our class text “The Explorer”.
W.C. 13.01.25: This week, Year 6 had a Maya workshop, where we learnt about Maya writing, numbers, artefacts and even made our own Maya pottery.
W.C. 20.01.25: In English this week, children created rafts to experience what it would have been like for the children in ‘The Explorer’, as they tried to return safely to Manaus.
W.C. 27.01.25: This week, we had a 'Knife Crime' awareness talk, where a skilled practitioner came into school to discuss important issues regarding safety and the law around carrying a knife.
W.C. 03.02.25: Year 6 celebrated Children’s Mental Health week, where we completed work to improve our understanding of how to meet the theme of “Know Yourself, Grow Yourself”
W.C. 10.02.25: As part of Safer Internet Day 2025, Year 6 completed activities around the theme “Too Good to be True - Protecting Yourself and Others from Scams”, including taking part in a BBC live lesson, identifying examples of scams and phishing and completing word searches for key words around the topic.
